manhattan Camerata mission statement
The Manhattan Camerata is a chamber orchestra that performs primarily Early, World, and Contemporary Music, especially the compositions of Lucia Caruso and Pedro da Silva. Performing in New York and around the world, the orchestra is also involved in film and educational projects, including projects designed to benefit disadvantaged young people.
Summary of Mission:
The Manhattan Camerata Society for Music and the Arts has been formed:
1)To sponsor, facilitate, and promote public performances, recitals, musical tours, and concerts, before a wide range of audiences, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, both in New York and around the world;
2)To promote public exposure to and appreciation of a variety of musical styles and influences, encompassing early and classical, as well as contemporary and ethnic, instruments and musical forms, especially as performed by the Manhattan Camerata;
3)To expose audiences to new and original compositions;
4)To educate the general public, as well as composers and other musicians, through lectures, multimedia presentations, and other performances, about under-appreciated aspects of music and the arts; and
5)To sponsor, facilitate, and promote the creation, preparation, rehearsal, performance, recording, and dissemination of a variety of works of art, including musical compositions, opera, film, theater, and multimedia projects and performances.
